2022 BALAS DOCTORAL COLLOQUIUM 

June 11-13 th 2022 

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 14 th, 2022

We cordially invite doctoral students and researchers to attend the BALAS Doctoral Colloquium that will be held on June 11 th. at the Carcavelos Campus of NOVA School of Business and Economics, in Lisbon, Portugal.  The event will be conducted as an hybrid event with both on site and online presentations, according to local and global sanitary guidelines.

The Doctoral Colloquium is an opportunity to discuss your research goals, methods, and results at an early enough stage, and to receive useful guidance to improve the research effort. Students will also have the opportunity to obtain guidelines for publishing papers on prestigious journals and academic publications. Doctoral research at different levels of development (previous, ready for, and after doctoral proposal defense) can be sent. 

The Doctoral Colloquium will also allow participants to interact among themselves and with members of an BALAS academic network from the U.S., Hispanic America, and other parts of the world. 

SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS

Doctoral Proposal/ Research Submission Instructions

  • You are invited to send your Doctoral research to our Annual Doctoral Colloquium. Please indicate the state of advancement of your project when sending your manuscript (e.g.  initial Doctoral Project or Proposal, Approved doctoral research project, Advanced project or close to the final defense). 

  • You can also send your final Dissertation, we will provide specific information soon.

  • Your doctoral proposal/project should be sent through the paper system Easy Chair (opening soon) selecting the “Doctoral Colloquium” track. In order to login you need to create an account according to the instructions in the page.

  • Proposals need to be written in English, 3,000 words in length + appendices (figures, tables), letter type Arial, size 12. In order to allow for blind review, the document should not include the author’s name. Please include in a separate sheet the following: author’s name, name of the doctoral program, name and email address of the dissertation advisor, author’s e-mail address and stage in the doctoral thesis process (before, ready for, after doctoral proposal defense)
  • Proposals should be submitted by the published deadline.
  • Proposals will go through a selection process. If accepted, the students will present at the consortium. Results will be announced March 1st. 
  • Selection will be based upon the quality and originality of the proposal and the research.
  • Important: Proposals need to be updated 3 weeks before the day of the doctoral consortium (May 20th, 2022 - this is in order for panelists to be able to make better and useful comments about the current work)

FOR PRESENTERS
  • Proposals selected for presentation, and results will be given by March 2022
  • All participants MUST complete registration to be considered in the Program
  • They will need to present (online or presentially)
  • Proposal Presentations should consider a 12-15 minutes time, and the preparation of clear PPT slides, in English.
