2020 DOCTORAL COLLOQUIUM

Bogotá April 1-3

We cordially invite students from Business Doctoral programs interested in Latin American Issues, companies, markets  to submit their dissertation proposals/ research for the BALAS Doctoral Consortium that will be held, in Bogotá, Colombia,April 1-3, as part of the Annual BALAS Conference.

The Doctoral Consortium is an opportunity to discuss your research goals, methods, and results at an early enough stage, and to receive useful guidance to improve the research effort. Students will also have the opportunity to obtain guidelines for publishing papers on prestigious journals and academic publications. Doctoral research at different levels of development (previous, ready for, and after doctoral proposal defense) can be sent.

The Doctoral Consortium will also allow participants to interact among themselves and with members of an academic network like BALAS from the U.S., Hispanic America and other parts of the world. The program consists of two types of activities: discussion of research proposals and plenary sessions with key speakers.

Proposal presentation

  • Your research proposal should be sent through the paper system LINK selecting the “Doctoral Consortium” track. In order to login you need to create an account according to the instructions in the page, or directly to balasdoctoral@gmail.com.
  • Proposals need to be written in English, 4,000 words in length + appendices (figures, tables), letter type Arial, size 12. In order to allow for blind review, the document should not include the author’s name. Please include in a separate sheet the following: author’s name, name of the doctoral program, general area (i.e. strategy, HRM, marketing, finance, management, MIS, etc.), name and email address of the dissertation advisor, author’s e-mail address and stage in the doctoral thesis process (before, ready for, after doctoral proposal defense)
  • Proposals should be submitted by November 15th., 2019. Proposals will be selected for presentation and results will be given by January 15th., 2020.

Selection will be based upon the quality and originality of the proposal and the research.

Scholarships

Best proposal(s) will receive Travel Support and Registration Scholarships.

Registration

Doctoral students are expected to cover travel costs to the Consortium site and registration in BALAS 2019 conference. We have special student fees for BALAS

  • Early Doctoral Student Registration + BALAS registration (by March 1st., 2019) USD 190
  • Late Doctoral Student Registration + BALAS registration: USD 250
  • Students attending only the Doctoral Consortium: USD 90 (includes lunch and coffee break)

BALAS registration includes attendance to all BALAS sessions + Opening cocktail + 2 luncheons + Gala Dinner + Social Activities and Coffee Breaks
