BALAS Fellows Program Established:

Denise Dimon, University of San Diego, was honored as the first BALAS Fellow in recognition of her contributions to BALAS. Denise began serving on the BALAS Executive Committee in 1987 and co-chaired two BALAS conferences in San Diego (1988 and 2001). She served as the executive director of BALAS for approximately 20 years as well as BALAS President for two years. At the 2010 BALAS Conference in Barcelona, Jose de la Torre reflected on her initiatives and the dedication that she had shown to BALAS over the years. Esteban Brenes, current BALAS President, and Victoria Jones, current BALAS Executive Director, awarded her with a plaque and a beautiful bouquet of flowers. Denise will be stepping off of the BALAS Executive Committee in 2011.
