Do not miss the 2012 Conference in Rio! You can still register now for the 2012 the BALAS Conference in Rio de Janeiro! The conference will be hosted by PUC-Rio, with Dr. Jorge Carneiro serving as the 2012 Conference Chair. This year's theme: "Latin American Firms Competing in the Global Economy" will include several paper and panel sessions around this issue. BALAS publishes a conference Proceedings of the papers accepted and presented at the conference. In addition the Journal of Business Research and Academia, Revista Latinoamericana de Administración will publish special issues with the best papers of the BALAS 2012 conference.
SPECIAL NOTE FOR ACCEPTED AUTHORS: You had toregister for the conference, no later than March 5th, for your paper to be included in the conference program and eligible to present your paper at the conference. Only those papers presented by one of the authors will be included in the conference proceedings and considered for the variety of publication outlets available.
You are also strongly encouraged to make your hotel reservations as soon as possible as space is limited. The cut-off date for any hotel discounts (which still depend upon availability) is March 5. Click here for information on hotel options.

Make plans now to attend the 2013 BALAS Conference to be held in Lima, Peru and hosted by Universidad ESAN as part of their 50 year anniversary celebration. The conference is scheduled to be held March 20-22, 2013 and the paper submission deadline will be November 1, 2012. The theme of the conference will be "Free Markets and Social Inclusion : Towards a common goal" and papers around this theme, and others related to the business and economic environment of Latin America and the Caribbean are welcome.
The 2011 Conference, held April 13-15, hosted by Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez (UAI Business School) was a huge success. Dr. Mauricio Villena served as the Program Chair with the generous support of Dean Alfonso Gómez and others from UAI Business School. Sessions were held at their graduate campus which is located in the hills of San Ramón and provides striking views of Santiago.
The theme of the conference was "Value Creation through Innovation: Latin America's Unavoidable Challenge." The conference was opened by Dr. Fernando Flores, former Minister of Finance and currently the President of Chile's National Innovation Council for Competitiveness. The conference included special invited panels with speakers from industry and academia, as well as competitive paper sessions. In addition to the high quality sessions there was time to reconnect with friends and make new acquaintances at events such as the gala dinner at the Viña Santa Rita.
Estaben R. Brenes (INCAE Business School) concluded his term as BALAS President and welcomed Jerry Haar (FIU) as he begins his two-year term. BALAS is an organization supported by the efforts of volunteers. We welcome your support.
